If the farmers adopt " three pillars" formula

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji told while inaugurating the ‘Krishi Unnati Mela’ (agriculture development fair) at the IARI’s Pusa campus, Delhi ,  suggested a “three pillars” approach to farming to insulate against crop losses. “At present, farmers follow one pillar, that is farming alone. When this pillar falls due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm, their survival is affected. So, it is important to have our farming based on three pillars,”

If the farmers adopt " three pillars" formula they get double income by 2022. And also said
farmers to take a series of steps to conserve water and adopt modern technology to increase their productivity.

The pillar formula is as follows:

1.  That the first ‘pillar’ must be to continue regular farming.

2.  Second one should be to grow timber on the boundary of the farm field.

3.  The third one is to adopt animal husbandry, poultry and bee keeping among other activities                     simultaneously. And use of latest technology.

And Modiji  said  “If we do our farming on these three pillars, then farmers will have ways to insulate themselves from losses due to natural calamities. And their income will also rise, and  said, noting that the country has to import timber at present.

The Prime Minister gave away the Krishi Karman Awards for 2014-15 to states and farmers for their outstanding performance in agriculture.

He also launched a mobile application Kisan Suvidha for farmers. This app will provide information to farmers on weather, market prices, seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and agriculture machinery.

The idea of the PM is very good, We hope  implementation may takes place early.

Already the farmers are following the three pillar system in our country, growing trees on the banks of land like neem trees, teak trees, babool trees, Mango for fruits tamarind trees  and  other trees also. Flower plants , fruits plants, vegetables etc.

The wood may be used for making agriculture equipments, construction of houses, bullock carts for transport etc. since the agriculture started.

Farmers also growing commercial crops like cotton, sugar cane, mirch, tobacco in addition to the paddy, jawar, wheat, bajra, groundnut , sweet potato, potato  except latest technology.Farmers are using tractors for ploughing of land and seedling and levelling of land.

Also some farmers establishing poultry farms, fish - prawn  farms, rabbit farms, emu farms etc.

In our country most of the people at least 75% are depend upon  cultivating land. Agriculture is purely depend on water sources. Main water source in our country is depend on monsoon rains, rivers, irrigation water canals  and bore wells.

The rivers and canals are also depend on rains. Few of the rivers in the north the Ganges, Sindhu and Brahmaputra are live rivers always water is available due to rains and melting of ice in the Himalayas. The excess water also wasting and flowing in to the sea.

The southern rivers Narmada, Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna , Tungabhadra and Kavery  are purely depend on monsoon rains only. This year monsoon rains are very less so, water is not available in the rivers. Even drinking water also shortage .

Monkey also unable to get drinking water easily.

Mainly agriculture starts in the month of June every year in our country , after summer monsoon begins from June only. Some times monsoon delays the agriculture also delayed some times seedling also may be cancelled.

In the beginning rains will be normal the farmers go for seedling , the seeds germinates after some growth rains may be stopped then the plants will dry, there will be heavy loss to the farmer .Loss of   seeds, fertilizers and  labour charges etc.

Due to heavy rains causes floods which may  heavy loss to farmer. Insects , birds and animals also destroy the agriculture.

After growing the  agriculture some extent at final stage of agriculture , at the time of harvest also the farmer facing lot of problems like drought, hailstones and heavy rains.

After harvest also farmer is unable to sell the products in time due to low rates, some times farmers are not getting the invested amount. No proper storage facilities, some of the fruits , vegetables will be damaged in short time.

Tomato field left by a farmer due to low rate.

Farmer left the tomato crop due to price is very low, tomato cost at farmer is Rs.2/- per Kg but in the market selling at  Rs.15/- Kg.

This year Onion rate was increased to top Rs100/-Kg. Due to high rates of onion  most of the farmers attracted to the high rate and produced onion in large area  but the rate of onion drastically reduced to Rs 15-.20/-Kg. They were not even get the investment. Like this whenever farmer produces other food grains , he may also face to get transport  charges.

When they go to market to sell their products there will be no proper facilities like to protect food grains from rains and hailstones, even floods etc.

So, so many farmers are ending their lives through out the country due to losses in agriculture. Every farmer hopes for yielding of more cultivation and early repayment of  debt but all are in vain.

Farmer producing the food grains, fruits, milk ,oils , ghee, poultry and fish etc. and feeding the whole country ,  working day and night with his whole family, but he is not happy because he don't know the returns of his products. But a industrialist knows the returns of  his products because  he knows rates  in well advance. Industrialists gets so many subsidies from the Govt. and encouragement.

In such a way a Farmer should get encouragement from the Govt. and benefits. Govt. should provide :

-  Best Seeds at low rate.
-  Providing water facility by tanks, canals, bore wells . Linkage of north- south rivers.
- Construction of river projects.
- Fertilizer  at low rates.
- Pesticides to be supplied at low rates.
- Testing of soils.
- Latest agriculture equipments to be supplied at low cost and instalments.
- Diesel may be supplied for engines at low cost.
- Electricity at minimum rate or free to small scale farmer.
-  Fixing of minimum rate of production.
- Market facility.
- Easy transportation.
- Purchase of damaged product.
- Storage facility at field and markets.
- More gowdns to constructed.
- Exemption of market charges.
- Easy loans to be sanctioned early to the farmer  for agriculture and other essential works.
- Loan recovery should be friendly.
- Now Govt. giving loan exemption, it should be extended to all particularly poor farmer.
- Broker system to be abolished
- Stoking of food grains by middleman can be avoided.
- Medical facility to be provided at nearer places and mobile treatment may be given.
- Family insurance to be provided.
- Education facility to the farmers children may be provided.
- Information about agriculture and whether  can be given time to time , already toll free no. is there          but all are   not utilising they may be made aware of it .
-Encouragement from Govt. and market.

Last year Onion rate was Rs 80 - 100 , Farmer  grown  more onion to help the people but bad luck to the farmer the rate of onion now in Madhyapradesh  is only 30 paise per Kg .

If all the above facilities are  provided to the farmers then farmer will be happy , he improves self confidence and try to yield more production." Then farmer becomes king "   Fulfils the dream of our Lal Bahadur Shastriji.

                                           " JAI JAWAN - JAI KISAN "
                                                                      yours,
